ShopMod ("we," "us") converts Shopify payout exports into a CSV format QuickBooks Online can import. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what we do — and don't do — with it.
What we collect
- Your email address. Required to use the converter. We use it to send a one-time verification code, track your remaining credits or subscription status, and send purchase receipts.
- The CSV file you upload. It's read into memory, converted, and the result is sent back to you in the same request. By default the original file is not saved anywhere.
- Your original file, only if you check "Keep a copy." This is off by default. If you turn it on, we keep your original Shopify payout export so that, if something about the conversion looks wrong, there's a copy to compare against. See "Keeping a copy of your original file" below.
- Payment information — but not by us. Purchases are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, tied to your email.
- Basic server logs. Like any web server, ours briefly notes IP addresses and request timestamps, used only to prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting repeated verification attempts) and to troubleshoot errors.
Why we require email verification
Before ShopMod added a verification step, anyone could type in any email address and act as that person — using their free trial, spending their credits, or (if the "keep a copy" option were used) causing a file to be associated with an email that wasn't theirs. Requiring a confirmed 6-digit code closes that gap: it proves you actually control the inbox behind the email you're using.
Keeping a copy of your original file (opt-in)
If you check "Keep a copy of my original file" before converting, your original Shopify payout export is stored on our server, organized by your verified email address. It is:
- Never publicly accessible — there is no URL or page that serves these files, and they aren't linked from anywhere in the app.
- Stored with restricted file permissions so only the application itself can read it.
- Kept so that, if you're unsure a conversion came out right, we can look at what you originally uploaded.
You can ask us to delete a stored original at any time — see "Your choices" below.
How we share data
We don't sell or share your email or files for marketing purposes, ever. Data only passes to two outside parties, each solely to run the service:
- Stripe, to process payments. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Our email delivery provider, solely to send you the verification code and receipts.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect against fraud or abuse of the service.
How long we keep data
Your email and credit balance are kept for as long as your account is active, so you don't lose a balance you've paid for. Uploaded files that you did not ask us to keep are discarded immediately after conversion. Original files you opted to keep are retained until you ask us to delete them or your account is closed.
Your choices
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- Delete a stored original file (or all of them),
- Tell you what data we hold on your email address, or
- Delete your account and associated data entirely.
Reach us at privacy@digitalbuilds.org to make any of these requests.
Children's privacy
